Launching the Poverty Hub to Tackle Child Poverty

The Children’s Society - Poverty Hub Launch

THE CHALLENGE

In response to rising poverty levels in the Greater Manchester region and its detrimental impact on children's services, The Children's Society aimed to launch a dedicated Poverty Hub. The challenge was to raise awareness about the urgent need for funding and support while engaging the community and stakeholders effectively.

THE RESPONSE

I led a team to develop a comprehensive campaign centred around young people's experiences of poverty, ensuring their voices were at the forefront of the initiative. A high-profile media launch was organised, attracting significant attention from television crews, resulting in extensive rolling coverage, including ITV News.

Key components of the campaign included:

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Created a detailed plan to engage key stakeholders, leading to a successful event that showcased the importance of the Poverty Hub and facilitated discussions on funding.

  • Celebrity Involvement: Secured the participation of influential figures, including Misha B, to enhance the campaign's visibility and appeal.

  • Media Strategy: Utilised targeted media outreach to ensure widespread coverage and public engagement, amplifying the message about the necessity of the Poverty Hub.
